More…

Another trip to the vet. And then another.

Some anti-inflammatory drugs and only light exercise, but still to no avail.

IMAG0436
Buddy with his lump several months down the track.

In March, when the swelling was still not getting any better so further tests were done to help confirm the initial diagnosis.

Nothing unusual was found with the consensus being that the only option would be to remove the lump surgically.

Due to the location relative to the joint, the vet advised that it would prove difficult to heal and possibly end in the loss of the limp.

One thing that people always said that Buddy was such a happy dog.

This was still the case and as it wasn’t causing any pain or discomfort, the decision was made to leave the lump be for now and check again if necessary.

  1. Such a lovely picture ……..my experience has been, NEVER waste time with any tumor found on your pup, especially one found on a limb…..in my case, they have all turned out to be malignant. God-forbid, if this EVER happens to one of my dogs again, there will be NO delaying vigorous intervention;
    and it doesn’t help when some vets continually misdiagnose a cancer in our pups and treatment is delayed…….hoping we all never have to go through this journey again…..(sorry for the rant…..)

    Best wishes to you all……
    Love,

  2. Such good looking pups! Definitely look like twins separated at birth!

    For a brief second I thought, “Oh nooo, Buddy has had to go back to the vets for something…ugh!” And then, of course, I realized this is the “chronicles” of Buddy’s ongoing journey! Whew!!!

    Buddy IS a happy dog and such a gentle persona about him!

    You have a splendid pack!

    Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

  3. That is a very typical path to diagnosis unfortunately, lots of members (ourselves included) were in the same situation. You learn so much from this journey, some good, some makes you mad, but overall it makes us wiser for our future pet’s health needs.
